This sculpture was made leading up to my first solo exhibition during my last year at university. Titled Inattention, this solo preceded my degree show and was open to the public for five weeks in Leicester, UK. 'In need if my nightlight' came at a time when I was using a tank to submerge plaster sculptures and watch for erosion. Succeeding the making of the tank, and whilst building other bodies piece by piece, I wanted to build upon this. Metaphourically, using the tank as a body to house the decaying body inside, it came to me that the body needed legs. But not figuratively, like so many of my other works. This time using something else. It needed to be an assemblage. It also came at a time when I was realizing that the days refereed to in life by the phrase "those were the days", were the days that I experiencing at that point. These are those days. Having already been introspective of the last ten years in another artwork, this piece took me even further back.
