Wind Sculpture

People strive for peace and tranquility, for only in such circumstances can dreams be realized and hopes brought to fruition. However, the mass media is constantly portraying information about wars, catastrophes, and a vast array of different technological, ecological, and natural disasters, and hence a large number of deaths. This news is a terrible juxtaposition with people’s expectations, and thus elicits a deep psychological dissonance and realization of this world’s instability. As a result, an individual loses their sense of certainty in what tomorrow may bring. In my sculpture, I portrayed clouds and a dove, which symbolize peace and tranquility. They are light, as if balloons, which remind us of celebrations, dreams, and hopes. However, strong gusts of wind blow on the dove and clouds, disrupting their position of careless floating in the sky, and pressing them towards the ground. This depiction is meant to convey the stark contrast between our dreams and hopes, and those events which actually take place around us. Reality is harsh.
