Born in Basle/Switzerland living and working in Basle and international mixed media artist, member of professional artists www.visarte.ch and unesco, www.werbund.ch www.dock-basel.ch Pakery`s new works are art out of lightstones. Lightstones are cast stones with natural minerals. Concrete and water are mixed together with the selected minerals in a basin like a "pastry". From this point of view it would simply be just a normal concrete stone. But the speciality of the lightstones are, that into the pastry are embedded optical glass fibres, so called optical waveguides. Just the same which are used for the fibre-optic communication. An optical fibre is a flexible, transparent fibre made from pure glass not much wider than a human hair. Thereby the result is the newly formed light-transmissive material. The artist Paula Pakery has worked for many years among others on the theme of light. Thus it is not surprising that she is fascinated by this new possibility of capturing or trapping light. She starts thinking about the material, taking it away from its habitus of structural engineering and creating artworks of everyday pleasure. These artworks sculpted from Lightstones are affect by daylight as well as by artifical light as if they carry inside little candles or pearls; tightly entwined in each other. The artist describes herself and the lightstone as a contrasting of both: hard versus soft. Through this process the hard consistent lightstone with the light-flooding get together and create a sublime sculpture full of astonishment. A confrontation with an area of tension in which the momentum brings with it an energetic expression with potential similar to that of technological imperatives. With creativity and phantasy Pakery narrates stories that activate deep associative currents. Visions open in the pictures in which the artist inspires in the viewer a curiosity beyond the surface. Through her artworks Pakery communicates a sense of the spirituality of beings and this can amazing the viewer with an unspeakable disposition of happiness.
