'Red Crown (painting I.)' is one of two a wall-sculptures inspired by a tissue paper crown, found in an old diary, stored there for safe-keeping.
The cement forms were produced using an old baking tray that belonged to my mother. Barbed-wire was retrieved during a six mile walk, including a river crossing, waist high in freezing water. The small piece of wood was discarded during a show set-up at the Royal Academy of Art, London, many years ago. The wall-paper collage was from an old entrance to my kitchen which is now boarded up.

About The Artwork

'red crown painting I.' painting 2019 one of two sculptural artworks inspired by a red paper crown, found in an old diary, after being stored there for safe-keeping. The cement forms were made using a 1960's baking tray that belonged to my mother. Barbed-wire was retrieved during a six mile walk, including a river crossing, waist high in freezing water. The small piece of wood was discarded during a show set-up at the Royal Academy of Art, London, many years ago. The wall-paper collage was from an old entrance to my kitchen which is now boarded up. hung together, would make a pretty cool diptych
