About The Artwork
Spanish newspaper clippings and bold color scraps on a painting I found in a dumpster on my street in Madrid: Calle de la Cabeza. This piece was largely about collecting the colors that I needed from the negative spaces in magazines. Ripped newspaper fills the whitecaps. The process for most of my pieces is usually about creativity and maximizing the content of each cut out. For this piece, it was more about patience and excecution. My mission statement as a collage artist is solidified in this piece. The original paintings is from 1975. It was forgotten. Color gives its faded paint new life and today's news pulls it out of its capsule.
