About The Artwork
There are many women who live inside me. Some are versions of myself. Others are just passing through or make me a longer visit, show me a map, explain the way forward, what shoes to wear. While one explains, all the others look attentive, as if instead of one, we were all getting lost along the way. This work is inspired by Clarice Lispector, a masterful Brazilian writer, who, since my childhood, accompanies me with her texts and her way of questioning life and our choices. Madame Pagu (1967, Brazil) is a multiartist who combines her original photography and appropriate images and objects with collage, textile art, mixmedia, destructive processes and digital art to create works that refer to the female universe, the connection between people and the passage of time. Since 2015, she lives in Italy, when she left her life as a lawyer and university professor to devote herself completely to art. "My work reflects how I feel about the world we live in. Sometimes it may seem a little gloomy, but it's honest and it's my way of translating what I invades me and it remains." Her work have been successful at COCA – Contemporary Artists Center (Italy), FESTFOTO (Brazil), Pequeno Encontro da Fotografia (Brazil) and exhibitions at Centro Argentino de Artes Têxteis – CAAT (Argentina).
