About The Artwork

Faunus is the female form of the Faun in Greek myth. My interest in the Western tradition of using these figures as a way to understand our relationship to nature. Photograph of myself as this mythological figure is below the figure of Joan of Arc by Jules Bastien-Lepage in upper left represents "seeing" and being aware of the future's danger. The collage is comprised of paper collage, photograph, and acrylic paint, it is on a 1/2" deep wood panel and each side is also collages and painted.
