ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I created this series of hand-cut collages from TV, Radio, and Stereo repair manuals dating from the 1940s' to the mid 1960s'. The figures in each of these pieces are from Artist's anatomy books from around the same period. The juxtaposition of humans and machines existing together inside an imagined landscape represents where life has brought us in the 2020s. Our devices are as much a part of us as our DNA makeup in that they are an extension of who we are. The machine is the man and the man is the machine. AI is I.

Born 1964 in Sevilla, Spain. Raised in the southern US. Influenced by arts and crafts of the South as well as the Abstract movements from Kandinsky on. All things form the man you are. My current artwork deals with the need for the quiet in life without all the words that stop our minds and limit our ways of seeing. Pure visual language. I work with some non-traditional materials in my paintings. Most notably TAR. I use this for its organic quality and the way it causes chemical reactions in the paintings themselves. My drawings use the same visual motifs as the paintings but involve aggressive use of pencil and oil pastel.
