About The Artwork
Two, own photographs were combined to a collage by the artist. A koi seems to be trapped in a net which the artist photographed in Basel where she saw as well a pond with kois. Some of the kois in the pond died. This koi here shows some injuries on the back. Some fish scales are lost as if the fish struggles for survival. Fish is a food of excellent nutritional value and a talisman. Maybe some of the fish scales are now in the purses of other people to protect them from poverty and bad luck? However, this collage leaves room for other interpretations with the fish, pupil-like net, and hole as symbols. In reality, this fish might not be trapped in the net. In addition, the collage was created in a convent. The artwork is ambiguous and not ambiguous. This was the intention of the artist. The whole dimension of the artwork on high quality paper is 39.5 x 28.4 cm, the dimension of the collage itself is 27.4 x 19.4 cm.
