Acrílico, recortables de unas fotocopias de mis propios dibujos sobre cartulina Basik Las películas musicales de los años treinta me gustan mucho, entre ellas hay una del año treinta y cuatro, La alegre divorciada en el que se incluye una canción de Cole Porter titulada Night and day. De aquí cogí el título para mi trabajo Noche y día tú eres la única. También hay otro musical emblemático de esos años de crisis, Calle 42. Pienso que lo que cuenta el argumento no llega a ser tan importante como la manera de contarlo, de cómo está realizada la película. Sus números de baile son fantásticos, llenos de imaginación por parte de su coreógrafo Busby Bekerley. Un ejemplo de ello es como multiplica las imágenes de las bailarinas a modo de caleidoscopio consiguiendo un dinamismo y un ritmo muy novedoso para la época. Estos dos musicales han tenido mucha influencia a la hora de realizar este trabajo.

Since childhood, I have been obsessed with paper cut-outs and fashion magazines. My grandmother was a dressmaker who created fashionable suits and dresses from her own patterns. I feel that my work also follows a pattern - parts coming together like a mosaic in which I try to create harmony from a multitude of scraps, eventually finding a rhythm within repetition and patterns that resemble textile designs. My work evokes a carefree, dreamlike landscape, full of beauty, fullness of colour and textures. I take pleasure in breathing life into the idols of old movies and re-imagining them in scenes of my own making.
