About The Artwork
This piece was inspired by the often entwined notions of affectation and insipidness. The people in this piece felt little more than the affectation of their clothing, so I chose to present them headless, as though their clothes had more to say than they themselves did. I also loved the contrast here between the sleepy pastoral scene I created as a backdrop and the interlopers in their jewel colors and their expensive clothes, creating a kind of visual disconnect between man and the natural world.
