About The Artwork

My collage works are created first by selecting pieces of text that come together to form a statement which draws on subjects including gender, sexuality, and state of the world. I then create a background to complement the text and put the two together. This style of working draws on my background as a writer and artist, melding the two formats together.

Roberta is a fused glass and collage artist living and working in Somerset, UK. She is one half of the artist collective, We Are The Four. Living with chronic illness influences Roberta's art, both in vision and in style. She has created ways to work around her health issues, coming up with ways of doing things that may be different from other artists. This gives her work an individual element. A writer as well as an and artist, Roberta's collages combine both her loves, taking words and arranging them into meaningful phrases. Many works draw inspiration from current political, gender, and lifestyle themes. Sustainability is important to Roberta and for her collage work, all paper used in the collages is recycled from old magazines and pamphlets. Frames are chosen from second hand sources. Roberta's works have been selected for open exhibitions at prestigious galleries in her local area.
