The artwork continues the concept first presented by the author in the collection of stickers “SHIT HAPPENS” at the exhibition “Third Naturalism” (Omsk, 2018). "State happens" is a kind of rebus that packs in many diverse, sometimes contradictory, associations, the solution of which triggers an interactive process of individual and social reflection on a wide range of ideological themes. The obvious figurative designation of a critical attitude towards the aggression of statism is smoothed out with soft sarcasm and irony by referring to a popular expression, the laconic quintessence of wise optimism. States really “happen”: they are the result of a natural historical process of development of social relations, but they, like everything in the world, are not eternal, therefore attempts to rigidly fix and sacralize their state and form are obviously futile. And even the very choice of "buffalo chips" (aka kiziak) as the basis for images of countries, and not “fresh cow pats,” and grass as a background is not accidental, but has an easily readable justification for ethical, aesthetic, and sociocultural motives.
