Sian Rips is a collage artist based in Texas. With a background in both traditional art and paper art, who has used both in the combined form of abstract collage pieces. Each collage is made based on the organic placement of layers, each piece created without predetermined form but created with attention to clear space, depth, and content cohesion. Each piece aims to portray three-dimensional patterns, light interaction, and hints at recognizable traditional story through a two-dimensional stage. Some pieces relate to one another through detectable similarity in orientation or color, while others stand alone. In creating, attention to process is considered and approached in the continuous upward layering seen in many of the pieces.
