About The Artwork

A confrontational image which deals with anger and dismay at our current politics in a playful and outrageous way. The two headed doll appears in some of my more controversial work. She is an invention of my imagination, theatrical, playful, spooky and fun. She symbolises outcasts and weirdos of all kinds, including artists. I work with dolls as my subjects/models/actors.

“Splendid, witty, naughty, fine work” – gallery visitor I am a visual artist, also a jazz singer and songwriter. I have work in private collections worldwide, also in public collections including the National Portrait Gallery, The Victoria and Albert Museum, the Royal College of Art Collection and the Contemporary Art Society. My portrait of Leonard Cheshire and Sue Ryder is to be the centrepiece of a reception at the National Portrait Gallery this September to celebrate the Centenary of Leonard Cheshire’s birth. ABOUT MY CURRENT WORK I combine collage and paint to generate ideas and use dolls as my models or actors. My work can be planned or unpremeditated, theatrical, playful or serious. Making art from discarded stuff, giving it a new and poetic function alongside paint and drawing materials is an immense pleasure, an adventure. I like the way collage can inject energy, bite, humour and instability to both process and result.
