About The Artwork
A piece I created and donated for an auction event through Art House Dallas, a nonprofit organization that helps to connect and support local artists. The theme of the evening was "Belonging", so I created this piece to show how different people from different walks of life can come together for one purpose. In the current powder keg environment of U.S. politics and social media noise, people need to remember to listen to and support each other, rather than tear each other down, or get caught in the never-ending cycle of offense.

I create works in collage by hand from my Dallas studio, utilizing ephemera from old magazines, books, manuals, and photos as well as documents from my late aunt's south Louisiana insurance agency. The eclectic nature of old books, brochures, images and documents that reveal the passage of time, help to inform my work. These bits and pieces that have been stuck in the dark, aging on shelves and collecting dust, are uncovered and combined, giving them new life. With them I create works that travel through decades past, present and future. This handmade, layered time travel serves as a central theme in my work. I meticulously create my art using cut and glued bits of paper to construct a new reality.
