In this digital work, the ball is a module that transports you to another world, into a different 'dimension', perhaps that of thought. "Dreams", takes you on a ride into the inner world of an artist. Each playful, colorful pixel you see is a way inward and an enticement and seduction into a delightful game of fulfillment. The artist welcomes their variety as much as he is overwhelmed and abhors the pressure of having to say no to them. The playful delight presented is reason enough for leaving the first difficult job or canvas to turn to this one he can fill with such promises. As dreams, at least, they are allowable and forgiven. What if? What if he followed the path of what it is he perhaps ought to do instead? An act of courage or foolishness? Only if the urge of following this new path is too great, the artist risks everything to follow it. Or do you as well confront temptation with such urgency? This work comes in digital format. As an original, it is available at the SaatchiArt.com online gallery in a limited edition of 6 that can be ordered in canvas. A certificate of authenticity will be made available if you contact me via this Saatchiart.com webpage. It can also be ordered as an 'open edition' print on this site. In Rome, Italy, I was drawing and painting since childhood. When I arrived in New York City with $50 in my pocket, I called a few advertising agencies and got my first job working in the Empire State building. I became a sought-after commercial artist working with Geoffrey Hayes, art director of well-known advertising stints such as his famed Absolute Vodka campaign. My collages of New York City in surrealistic postcards were published and sold by the Metropolitan museum in 1979. I translated my love for the Old Masters into watercolor portraits of their works. On the other hand, my love for surrealism expresses my present stage of introspection in digital works of Surrealistic and Abstract-Expressionistic art. I was photographer Francesca Woodman's boyfriend at the time of her death and I introduce my photo of her as I fused it with my work.
