About The Artwork

The artwork titled 'Aaren | Respectful' presents a poignant exploration of the human form and the reverence it commands. It features a man, Aaren, in a moment of contemplation, his gaze lowered in a gesture of humility or perhaps self-reflection. His body, a landscape of muscle and sinew, is enveloped in tattoos that trace over him like the tendrils of thought and experience—each curve and line a silent homage to the journey of the soul. The gentle interplay of light and shadow across his skin highlights the depth and texture of the ink, giving the impression of a living tapestry. Set against a soothing blue background, the figure stands as a testament to the quiet strength and dignity inherent in the human condition. 'Aaren | Respectful' invites viewers to consider the complexities of identity and the profound respect we owe to the stories written upon us by life itself.

As a multidisciplinary artist, I derive inspiration from my empathy for humanity and an insatiable desire to explore the world's beauty and cultural complexity. I was born in 1963 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Penn State, where I took classes ranging from abnormal psychology to existentialism in order to broaden my creative mind. My extensive travels have enriched my perspective and significantly influenced my work. With my husband, Jeff, I have designed and built Tanglewild Gardens, a renowned botanical garden that doubles as our home and sanctuary in Austin, Texas. My career has spanned various fields including fine art, design, publishing, fashion, and technology, where I have had the privilege of leading global creative teams. My artwork, which has received international recognition, has been featured in prestigious publications and exhibitions and is collected by individuals worldwide. My art is a deeply personal and evocative blend of traditional and digital methods, incorporating AI as a collaborative tool. It delves into themes such as cultural diversity, injustice, and surrealism. As a gay man who has faced discrimination and lost many friends to AIDS, my work is imbued with profound empathy and a universally powerful impact. This combination of human emotion and innovative technique makes my art uniquely resonant. I am grateful for the opportunity to share my work with a global audience and to be part of such a diverse and impressive group of artists. If you find my work inspiring, I would be honored if you chose to follow me and stay updated on my latest projects. Thank you so much for taking the time to explore my creations.
