About The Artwork

My inspiration comes from fibre or textile fusion where a fibre layer of unspun roving was followed by a different color of fibre which was layered in a criss-crossing method. Continue adding threads, wool, pieces of netting and more. This was then sewn using a sewing machine. The same principle applies to the style I use now of digital colors, brushes and manipulation of patterns, the more layering the more you can see through it, the more you get caught up in the moment. This piece was inspired by a rainbow textile fibre fusion that I made a few years ago and upon completion of this digital piece I had at last found my happy place again. Since a stroke finding the medium of digital art I can replace the fibre fusion to the digital fusion space. I hope the viewer can look into this piece and let it speak to you, the more you look, the more you see.. Sizing: AR 3:4

I had been a textile artist for the last 30 years, but a stroke late in 2018 stopped me in my tracks. I've always loved computers, so I turned to the digital world where I discovered a new medium to work in. Fiber fusion art works were my passion. Fibre fusion is combining unspun wool, threads, ribbons, netting and more and sandwiching it together using a sewing machine. Weaving, spinning, sewing, quilting, knitting and crochet were also a part of my textile world. Now, thanks to software programs and artificial intelligence, I have taken the love of color into the digital world. A whole new world is waiting for me and I have found my happy place again. My inspiration comes from something I have seen and how it makes me feel. I see the world in shapes and emotions and using color and patterns to create an abstract piece. I was born and still live in Hamilton, New Zealand. I am married, have two adult children and 4 grandchildren—three girls and one boy.
