In most rural African communities, the education of the girl child is not considered as important. The girl child is viewed as a commodity which will be sold to the highest bidder (the husband). This might be due mostly to the poor economic strength of her family. Nevertheless we know the vital role that women has play in man's civilization over the ages even now. Therefore the need to educate the girl child is important.

Life and death are two sides of a coin, sombre yet beautiful. Bassey Bassey Eshiet (Basi Basi), is a ceramist by profession. He was born in Calabar, in the State of Cross River, he lives in and practice art in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State in Southern Nigeria. He is also a visual artist who loves exploring different media in art. One of such media is the digital media. He believes that art should be used in awakening beautiful emotions in humans as life is fleeting and times are difficult. As a visual artist he is deeply inspired by the rich heritage of Nigerian and African culture. He is thrilled to introduce himself and his work to you. His artistry is like the vibrant colours of the African sunset, backed up with the soothing whispers of ancestral wisdom, woven into the very fabric of his DNA. His artistic expression, echoing the rhythmic heartbeat of Nigeria, is a harmonious fusion of vivid colors, intricate symbolism, and linear expressionism. This captivating visual narrative celebrates the resilience and spirit of Nigerian men, women and children, much like the massive stem of the ancient Baobab tree that has withstood the test of time. The tactile nature of his work, akin to the gentle caress of the Harmattan wind, reflects the intricate patterns and lines found in traditional nsibidi writing. Each layer of paint, like the stories passed down through generations, holds an emotional depth that reveals tales of strength and hope. His art is a rich tapestry of emotions, with each brushstroke resonating like the soothing rhythms of a talking drum, guiding you through a sensory journey that transcends the boundaries of conventional artistic expression. Imagine the sensation of running your fingers across the canvas, as if traversing the bustling, vibrant markets of Lagos, feeling the rhythm of each line layer, much like the ridges and valleys of Nigeria's diverse landscape. Through this tactile exploration, you'll uncover a world of intricate symbolism, reminiscent of the ancient Nsibidi script, weaving stories of tradition and contemporary life. He humbly encourages you to experience the beauty and depth of his art. Immerse yourself in the soul-stirring essence of his work, and join him in celebrating the transformative power of African art. With warm regards and gratitude, Bassey Eshiet.
