ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Amidst the bustling activity of the harbor, a sense of anticipation hangs in the air as a mighty ship prepares to set sail. Its massive hull, painted a rich navy blue, gleams in the morning sun, a testament to its seaworthiness and strength. On the dock, families and friends gather to bid farewell to loved ones embarking on a new journey. Tears are mixed with smiles, and a palpable mix of emotions fills the air – excitement, nostalgia, and perhaps a touch of anxiety. It's a scene that has played out countless times in harbors around the world, a reminder of the profound connections that exist between people and the sea. Crew members hurry about, their actions precise and practiced. Ropes are coiled, cargo is secured, and the ship's massive anchor is hoisted. The captain stands on the bridge, surveying the harbor one last time before giving the order to depart. As the ship begins to move away from the safety of the harbor, there's a feeling of freedom and adventure. The open sea beckons, promising uncharted waters and the allure of distant horizons. Watching the ship's departure, one can't help but be struck by the symbolism of the moment. It's a reminder that life is a series of journeys, each one filled with its own unique experiences and challenges. And as the ship sails toward the horizon, it carries with it the hopes and dreams of all those on board, as well as the wishes of those left behind on the shore.

Valentyna Rybkina was born in 1977. After graduating from National University with a Master's in Politology and Sociology, she started to oil paint in 2013 as a self-taught artist influenced by great artists like Aivazovsky. She invites you to remember with her paintings the sunny and happy places you may have visited or plan to visit again, to see how beautiful nature is. She hopes you can look at the colors of her painting, enjoy them, relax, and forget about your problems. Life is good ;) She is especially interested in oil landscapes (ocean and seascape) and has always been passionate about flowers - these are the main thematic focus of all her works.
