Thelonious Monk This is one of those legendary jazz men that I had to paint. Thelonious Monk was a giant in the jazz world but not as often thought about as some of the more common names. The interplay between the warm and cool colors of reds and blues makes this a very electrifying painting. I gave the great man a noble stance, and placed analogous colors all over his face while bringing a few warm rhythms to his beard, mustache and glasses. This interplay worked well against the contemporary bold abstract background. I finished the painting off with a harmonizing calligraphy monogram of his name, Monk. • 30” H x 30” W x .5” D • Digital Mixed Media Art on Acrylic Glass • Ready To Hang – French Cleat • Painting Signed In Lower Left Front And Also On The Lower Left Back • A signed Certificate of Authenticity from my studio will be included with this painting and all the materials that were used to complete it. • The Finish: Gloss Archival Varnish with UV Protection Please contact me if you have any questions about this artwork or any other painting! I am a second generation expressionist painter with a focus on creating paintings that embody movement, energy, and luminous light. My work puts cognitive thinking in the foreground, letting the viewer discover things along the way. I paint each artwork with a mix of expressionism and abstraction, with bold, colorful flowing lines. These works retell history, bringing back special people and places that have been misplaced, forgotten or unknown. I am interested in awakening cognitive thought, harnessing creative energy and to research the limits of universal thinking.
