The idea is inspired by the life of Girolamo Savonarola, a Dominican priest who became de facto ruler of the republic of Firenze at the end of the 15th century. He lived in the crossing paths of late medieval and early Renaissance, and he tried to combat the “decadence” of his era; corrupted popes and the church hierarchy that lived in luxury and hedonistic bourgeois lives in vain. He promoted the value he believed in, advertised piousness, and called for repentance through his preaching and series of prophecies about the revelation.
