Wandering Mind Print

When I was a child I was introduced to my grandfather's friend, the esteemed graphic designer Abram Games. I had no idea of his legacy or work, I barely understood the concept of an artist at all. What I did know, from visiting his house several times, was that he was a kind old man who had walls adorned with imagery that was bold and iconic, colorful and eye-catching, and in some ways I suppose those experiences were formative to my attempts at art. This image, albeit nowhere as colorful or interesting as Games' work, is a representation of my young mind when I heard about his death way back in 1996, lying on the grass in the garden of my family home as my mother told me the news, the memories washing over me as I took it in. There were no direct emotions, I didn't know him well, he was just a passing figure I had met a few times. And so I lay there, remembering what I could about those moments.
