"106 Derived 1 2" is a digital artwork in style that combines photo manipulation with contemporary abstract expressionism and minimalist painting. When creating in style of digital expressionism, I usually use heavy photo manipulation / image editing to make original images unrecognizable. Artworks and even non-art pictures are turned into colorful explosions, canvases filled with lines and curves, shapes and colors. This approach is experimental and the artwork is often produced by chance with both random and deliberate choice of effects and edits. Most of the time the results are abstract, but every now and then, more recognizable shapes and figures appear, such as in this particular artwork.

Wilhelm Lyons is a contemporary multidisciplinary artist who creates digital and traditional artworks inspired by surrealism, minimalism and other styles of modern and contemporary art, especially the art movements of the 20th century. His art uses geometric shapes, color splashes and explosions, abstract landscapes, glitched objects retrieved from half-forgotten memories and chaotic photo manipulations to depict the nature of memories, illusions, dreams, reality distrotions and life in all its weirdness and normality. At least that's his view on his art, and it is just one opinion from an endless ocean of possible interpretations. While his main techniques are in digital realm, he also creates traditional artworks with gouache, pens, markers, watercolor and acrylic.
