About The Artwork

Part of the series "Calendar of traces" where Time and location are documented during a three month journey across the United States, July-October 2014. Traces, documentation samples from the surrounding environment, become part of the visual vocabulary for the work. Each day is represented by a drawing created that day in an improvisational manner. The works are made using wax crayon over fine Japanese Hanshi paper. "21/07/2014. Elkhart Lake Cafe menu trace" documents the bar menu of “Elkhart Lake Cafe” located in the center of the Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. The drawing is created on site in an improvisational manner, using wax crayon on fine Japanese Hanshi paper. "Calendar of traces" is ongoing work unfolding in real time, part of the project "Metamorphosis/USA". More information on the project can be found at http://www.vlassopoulou.com/calendar-of-traces.html Note: The 11x14 inches print format reproduces the work in its original dimensions. In all three formats available, the white border is slightly larger than the default 3 inch border provided by Saatchi, in order for the work to maintain its original proportions, and in the case of the 11x14 print, its exact size (9.5x13 in).
