I wanted to interpret many things with this image. I was interested in creating color from pure light rather than the absorption of light by a pigment. The color in this picture is made from natural light filtered by translucent paper sourced from a color backing. I was to pushing back against the naked female anatomy automatically being associated with sex and pornography. Also I was interested in the division between our human intellect and that of animals. I wanted to illustrate the obvious connection between the dynamics and potential of our human bodies to geometrically interlock thereby creating an intuitive mathematics. I wanted an image that expressed my hope for love, peace and harmony. Just as there is natural beauty in a Yosemite waterfall we can see the stunning natural beauty of my models! So in 1980 and 2020 I have not changed in my love and appreciation of the beauty of Nature.

I work in Yosemite National Park as a tour guide. I have worked in Yosemite for over 30 years. My artwork is inextricably tied to my Yosemite Geography and my ecological message. I am a plein air painter, print maker, and photographer. I also write and illustrate my own books. I am the author of "A Brief Instruction in Christian Religion," (A translation of Faustus Socinus), "The Chronicles of the Field Mouse Timothy," (Corn,Tomato,Wheat, Cotton, Sweet Potatoes, Rice Paddy, Pond Mouse and Yosemite), "Nature Vision" (Poems), and I have illustrated the short stories of my late daughter Sandra Fontana "Cereal at Midnight." I love nature and the wilderness. I am a proponent of the global national parks movement.
