The young hunters, as well as their progenitors, are preparing for the perpetual conflict. They serve the paradox of unbeatable forces. Laelapa, the unbeaten mechanical dog of Hephaestus will never reach the elusive prey. Fox of Thebes will be hunted forever. Lailapa was the mechanical predator who created by Hephaestus on behalf of Zeus. He had the gift of catching any prey hunting without ever erroneous. According to myth, Kephalos gave Lailapa to King Amphitryon in Thebes to catch a fox that no one could catch. So a hunter who always took his prey chased a prey that could never be caught. When Jupiter realized that the hunt would be endless, he stoned both animals and then turned them into constellations. Lilaps became the Great Kyon and the fox of Toumessus the Mikros. The idea of this endless chase, of perpetual controversy, I use in my painting as a symbol for the unending and repetitive struggle of man for survival, evolution and redemption. The children in the role of hunters, just like the previous generations, repeat the story.
