About The Artwork
The idea for this drawing initially came from the book "Of Mice and Men" by John Steinbeck. Steinbeck took from a passage of Robert Burns' poem "To a Mouse":...The best-laid schemes o' mice an' men Gang aft agley..his book title. And for me the subject of the drawing was the content of the book with that title. But then, while working on this drawing, I realized that I also associated this drawing with the only female protagonist in the book. I found this mouse skull years ago in our garden at the time. I gave it to Josef, who is my now deceased husband. Now I have that mouse skull again. That's how I came up with the idea for the drawing.
