A dark and sinister piece, Nose Bleed is a homage to mental abuse Brittainy faced during her early years. Brittainy Dale realized her passion for painting her freshman year of highschool in 2004. Prior to this she had never created a painting, just simple doodles of surreal things. The subject was of a papaya, and after creating this piece of work, she understood what she truly had a talent for. She took all of the art classes her 4 years of highschool, and painted in her spare time. However, her art teacher was not a fan of her style, and often held her work up in class to demonstrate 'this was not what to do'. Keeping her head up, and ignoring harsh words, she continued to paint what she felt, what she saw, and what she imagined. During this time she also found a passion for photography. And by her senior year she debated which path to take. Finding that she would ultimately become a starving artist by painting, she went the path of a photographer. Graduating Hallmark Institute of Photography in 2007 in Massachusetts, she moved back to her home town in Wisconsin. There she held down over the next two years photo assisting jobs, trying to start up her own career as a photographer, and forgot about her painting desires. By 2010 she had opened her own photo studio which she closed down in 2012 to pursue other opportunities. In August of 2012, she once again picked up her paintbrush and created 'The Examiner'. From here she noticed her style had changed immensely. She no longer was interested in creating photorealistic paintings- Why should she when she creates with a camera? No, no, she was more intrigued in creating something unusual, conceptual.. different. After creating this vibrant piece of work, she went on to experiment with a few smaller pieces, designing little creatures and monsters in a humorous state. Once again in early 2013 her painting was put on hold as she picked up a very time consuming job at Digital Color Inc. Nearing the end of 2013, she once again picked up her brush and created 'Dancer', another vibrant piece of work, yet not as surreal as the Examiner. For Brittainy, she paints when she feels, not because it is time to do so again, and her pieces come from the heart. Brittainy solely paints with acrylics, due to her painting style and needing the paints to dry quickly in order to do the amount of layering she does. Seeing various colours in light, she attempts to re-create them when she paints, layering different brush strokes with the different colours. In addition to painting she also experiments with pen & ink.
