the moon crackily 噼里啪啦月 the moon was rising and the reflection fragmented, rising through the dark glass. this phrase is a delightful calligraphic rendering of the chinese onomatopoeia, 噼里啪啦, pīlǐpālā meaning ‘crackily’ along with the character for moon 月 yuè. the moon got toothy under the stiff tulip poplar brush i was using and added another flavor to the piece. sumi on bamboo paper with artist seals. wet mounted on wenzhou paper
