About The Artwork

The painting “The Sorrows of Young Werther” was inspired and created during what was not the best period of my life. I drew my muse from my experiences and personal reflections during this period. The picture is the personification of nostalgia and a metaphorical look into the past. The character in this work looks back in search of something that has already passed and is imprinted in the depths of memory. In search of something dear, warm, and familiar, something that has been gone for a long time. In his tired eyes, we will not see regret, we see only a slight touch of sadness for the past, bygone days. So the character of this work froze, looking back, sealed on this canvas. It serves as a reminder to other people that nostalgia is just a period. In this work, various shades of blue and ultramarine, as well as violet and turquoise were used to conveniently immerse the viewer in a state of well-known nostalgia and longing for the experience. White lines and voluminous pink flowers are needed to separate the viewer from what is happening in the picture and show all the illusoryness and unreality of this feeling. The picture entirely lives up to its name and its duty to evoke strange, contradictory, and disturbing feelings. Enjoy.

I am a professionally trained illustrator and fine artist with about 7 years of experience in illustrations, drawings, paintings, and graphic design for promotional and educational purposes. I also produced commissioned artwork and realistic paintings for brochures, portraits, logo designs, and character creations, as well as artwork restoration from the modern day to the 15th-century creations. I also have experience copying and painting orthodox icons. I love the creative process and have been painting and drawing since a very young age, often exploring both light and heavy topics that deal with social, psychological, philosophical, and cultural issues. I left my beloved Ukraine, fleeing war, in hopes of building a new life in Canada. I am looking for full-time, part-time, or freelance work in the creative industry. I am proficient in a variety of media, including oil paint, pen, pencil, pastels, watercolors, acrylic paints, ink, and mixed media.
