About The Artwork

I take the DART to Blackrock. Its 9:30AM. I like getting in 2 hours of chess at the Blackrock Starbucks. The music is pleasant; the view of the ocean through the large window pleasing. I like the presence of people around me when I concentrate on the game. The smell of espresso houses. I manage a decent effort on the board. Walking past me mostly couples - young mothers with their babies. Hardly single people, but me. I focus on this game to get involved with community work; however; I’m not sure if it will advance to that point, to be honest. I knew I have promise in this field; that is not the thing. My concentration among other facilities required to master this board game has taken a nosedive, blaming the before mentioned addictions. So, I belief, at this point, it is mainly an effort to recuperate my ability to think ahead, to plan. I pack in 2 hours then leave for the bottle store. Seeing me with the chess board and 10 beers the fella working there mentioned, “You realise that alcohol and chess doesn’t exactly complement each other” “I know” I replied. “However, then we have Alekhine. The first modern chess player, and world champion” “In fact, he was murdered, in theory. He died the world champion, taking the crown from no one else but Capablanca” “I only know that American guy that went mad” “Fischer”, I replied. Fuck it all. I just feel like drinking. I step out. It suddenly started raining while I was in the store and I run for the station. These damn paper shopping bags, I tell myself. Soon, I will need to carry the beer in my arms.

From the following poetry, written by the artist: It is as much as I strive for, to create this cubic frame for breathing. When I breathe, I am just breathing. Whether or not anything else persists, The question is meaningless. I seal this, as much as it can be sealed. 2) This fire is on its last legs. From the following poetry, written by the artist: You are dreaming again. You are dreaming again of that fire someone made, deep inside the forest. That pale fire caressing one final flame. So bored; on the border of. Watch me disappear. Watch me disappear into the forest, like a tiger. I am dreaming again. I am dreaming of that forest someone made inside. I am dreaming; like a fire frozen within an ice cube is dreaming. This fire is on its last legs. 3) It’s all about Kate. Louis is inspired by cats. He is the owner of a Maine Coon. Kate Moss, more than anyone else, reminds him of the feline species.
