ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Zhang Xu (Chinese: 張旭, fl. 8th century) was a Chinese calligrapher and poet of the Tang Dynasty. Legend has it that whenever he was drunk, he would use his hair as a brush to perform his art, and upon his waking up, he would be amazed by the quality of those works but failed to produce them again in his sober state. He was known as the Divine Cursive-writer for his great skill in the cursive script. Zhang Xu's cursive calligraphy is like a dragon's tadpole soaring to the sky, majestic and strong without losing its elegance. After experiencing the essence of Zhang Xu's calligraphy art, I express them in my artistic language. Here is my art work number 1102_tribute to Chinese Tang Dynasty artist Zhang Xu (91x 60.5 cm Oil on Canvas) made in 2022.
