The artwork is a detailed digital etching that portrays abstract shapes interacting dynamically. The forms, which resemble stylized letters or symbols, have a fluid, organic quality, conveying motion and interaction. The image’s monochromatic texture emphasizes shadows and depth, creating an illusion of three-dimensionality. Inspiration for the work could be rooted in calligraphy and typography, given the shapes' resemblance to letterforms. Additionally, the abstract nature suggests a possible influence from the surrealism movement, where objects are often depicted out of their usual context, inviting viewers to interpret them in new ways. Viewers may feel a sense of curiosity and the impulse to decode or interpret the scene. The artwork could provoke thoughts about communication and the arbitrary nature of symbols—how shapes and forms become imbued with meaning in human culture. There’s also a possible commentary on the relationship between language and reality, and how the two interact and shape each other. The medium of etching was chosen for its precision and ability to render fine detail, allowing for a rich exploration of texture and form. The decision to use abstract shapes as the subject matter could be to emphasize the universality of form over specific content, allowing viewers to project their interpretations onto the image. The style, with its focus on high contrast and tactile quality, might be intended to draw viewers into a deeper engagement with the texture and composition of the work, highlighting the interplay between light, shadow, and the illusion of depth. In essence, the artwork invites viewers to reflect on the nature of symbols and language through a meticulously crafted etching that balances abstract forms with a palpable sense of realism.

I explore the aesthetic of things through absurd, irony, abstract, and misplaced situations. In my early thirties, I joined the largest artistic avant-garde movement in the long history of the former Soviet Union. In St. Petersburg the group of artists founded the Society of Experimental Fine Arts and gave regular art exhibitions of a "new" art five years prior to the rise of Perestroika in the Soviet Union. Throughout the 1980's, my paintings were regularly shown at art exhibits. My artistic practice explores the conceptual aesthetic of things through absurd, irony and misplaced situations. It includes photo, painting, graphics, and sculpture. Since 2000s I have also been working in digital art and digital photography. Starting with raster images in Adobe Photoshop, vector graphics in Adobe Illustrator, and 3D objects in Maya/ 3ds Max, today I additionally use various text-to-image AI-driven art services like GAN & DALL·E 2 OpenAI for creating art works. My works are in Russian Museum (Saint-Petersburg, Russia), Museum of Nonconformist Art (Saint-Petersburg, Russia) and private collections in Russia, Spain, USA, Israel, France. From March 2022 I’m based in Spain. Web site: https://serge-yablonsky.co/ Arte Laguna World artist profile: https://artelaguna.world/artist/yablonsky-sergey/
