ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The artwork showcases a collection of abstract geometric and organic shapes, rendered in what appears to be a classic etching style. The forms, a blend of curves, sharp angles, and spheres, are presented in a stark monochromatic scheme, emerging from the page with a lifelike three-dimensionality. The backdrop features a complex pattern of lines, suggesting an invisible force or field around the objects. The inspiration for this work could stem from the scientific fields of physics or metaphysics, capturing the unseen forces that govern the natural world, such as gravity or magnetic fields. The abstract nature of the shapes might also draw from mathematical concepts or the precision of geometric figures, merged the real with the surreal. Viewers are likely encouraged to reflect on the intersection of science, nature, and art. The blend of recognizable shapes with abstract forms might provoke thoughts about the underlying order of the universe, the unseen energies that shape our reality, or the human endeavor to make sense of the cosmos. The medium of etching was chosen for its capacity to convey texture and detail, lending the artwork a timeless quality. The style, with its meticulous stippling and cross-hatching, and the choice of subject matter, eschewing color for a focus on form and shadow, create a sense of depth and movement. This technique allows the audience to focus on the essence of form without the distraction of color, encouraging a deeper engagement with the shapes and their possible meanings. In summary, the artwork is a visual meditation on the fundamental forces and forms that compose our reality, rendered in a medium that highlights their stark beauty and invites viewers to ponder their existence and interconnectedness.

In my artistic practice, I explore the conceptual aesthetic of objects through various styles, including abstract, surrealism, dada, absurdism, irony, and misplaced situations. My work encompasses a range of mediums, including photography, digital art, painting, graphics, and sculpture. I began my artistic career in my early thirties when I joined the Society of Experimental Fine Arts, the largest artistic avant-garde movement in the former Soviet Union. The group of artists, based in St. Petersburg, organized regular exhibitions showcasing a "new" art five years prior to the rise of Perestroika in the Soviet Union. During the 1980s, my paintings were regularly exhibited at these shows. In addition to traditional mediums, I have been working in digital art and digital photography since the 2000s. Starting with raster images in Adobe Photoshop, vector graphics in Adobe Illustrator, and 3D objects in Maya/ 3ds Max, I have now added various text-to-image AI-driven art services like GAN & DALL·E 2 OpenAI to my toolkit for creating artworks. My latest series of mixed media works push the boundaries between digital and physical art creation. Using generative and machine learning algorithms, they offer collectors a wide variety of unique artworks to choose from, featuring energetic splashes of color and form. My works have been featured in the Russian Museum, Museum of Art of Saint Petersburg XX-XXI Centuries, and the Museum of Nonconformist Art in St. Petersburg, as well as in private collections in Russia, Spain, the USA, Israel, and France. Due to moral and political convictions from March 2022 I’m based in Jaen, Spain. Web site:
