Alchemy of Abjection Print

This project speculates the separation of infrastructure from the city and the result in the creation of tension between the sewage treatment plant with the rest of the city. This project negates the notion of a purely utilitarian space and believes that regeneration should be perceived as a pursuit of alchemy. This particular drawing references the style of English poet and painter, William Blake, whose painting illustrates imaginative mythical quality. This drawing depicts a scene of apocalypse, however just as William Blake’s work, apocalypse is the birth of a new world and not the final destruction of the world. The functioning chimney shows the alchemical transformation taking place and the apocalyptic sky suggests this revolution.
