Body of Water: Self-portrait - Limited Edition of 3 Print

"Body of water: Self-portrait" is born from my inquiries about the limits of human corporeality in a permeated and permeable world, where we constantly let ourselves drain, moisten, drip and overflow, infiltrating beyond touch. The question of water and its profound relationship with our existence, from biology to religion and politics, is the origin of this work. Water has been the scene of dispute, mysticism, health and disease, an element that runs through everything, being shaped by our perceptions and ideas, and at the same time constituting us, creating us. If I think of myself as a body of water, my limits become blurred and I realize the complexity of my system, which is necessarily connected to other systems, the idea of the individual fades, but the depth of my waters is not lost, I am spring, pond, river and drop. The artistic process to create this image is based on the creation of imagined spaces from strands of photography, which I superimpose and alter in the manner of a digital collage, the parts merge into a whole where the body is inseparable from the space in which it is immersed, and the color is a manifestation of an inner state. The final print of this work over a fine art photographic paper, gives the composition a great level of detail and color, so it's texture as a digital "painting" can be appreciated in the photographic surface. I hope this intimate and liquid approach to my body immersed in a porous natural environment, opens the possibility to the viewer to feel that we are all materially connected, and that the representations of our bodies are no longer encapsulated in rigid standards, but should be created with the same flexibility and interconnection of the matter that constitutes our biologies.
