ABOUT THE ARTWORK

CONTEMPORARY TWENTIES combines an elegant and minimalistic color palette of white, anthracite and gold with the character of concrete and steel, creating a vivid finesse of minimalistic decadence in an urban industrial design. A composition of concrete, acrylic, 24k gold on linen, framed in raw steel. Made in Berlin. S. Mangelsen creates her very own and typical gestural abstractions, giving them a very personal touch of jazzy elegance, rhythm and finesse. Her informal art appeals to introspection and evokes a both inner and outer dialogue with the viewer. Golden elements of rich and carefully applied 24k gold shift in light and create constant visual and elegant effects. Signed, dated on the back, entirely colored on the edges. The raw steel frame is exclusively hand-made by the team Concept Garage. Made out of Berlin steel, made in Berlin Neukölln. Ready to hang design artwork.

Sophie Mangelsen creates her very own and characteristically gestural abstractions, giving them her very personal touch of elegance, rhythm and finesse, all in a Berlin understatement vibe. Her informal art appeals to introspection and evokes an inner and outer dialogue with the viewer - posing questions about consciousness and unconsciousness, harmony and disharmony, balance and imbalance - to inner landscapes of the complexity of our mind. Sophie Mangelsen, from Berlin, is additionally inspired on her journey by her experience as a psychologist and therapist. She studied at the Université Paris VIII and the University of Leipzig and found her form of expression in painting already in her youth. Her paintings are shown at international exhibitions and are in private collections around the world. In 2022 she was invited as a jury member in the international competition of BALTHASART. The artist lives in Berlin Kreuzberg.
