About The Artwork

This is a drawing of a jade necklace, which represents a were-jaguar. The were-jaguar was both an Olmec motif and a supernatural entity, perhaps a deity. What actually made me want to make a copy of this artifact, is the energy that I felt when I firdt saw it. Even if it has the shape of a square, for me its more of a circle. Both faces are full of rage and anger, the right one more than the left. Besides that the traits look powerfull and overwhelmed of the force they have in them. Another reason that inspired me to make this drawing was that I wanted to release all the fury I keep inside. When I look at it, I sea beast locked up in his cage, with no way out, and the only thing left to do is to walk around in circles, searching for a way out.

Hello, my name is Patricia Sorin (Tracey Cky is my nickname). I am 28, live in Moldova, Chisinau. I've finished our local Academy of arts in 2019. There I studied oil painting and mural painting. (I've worked for a while painting churches in Romania and Moldova). Right now I work as a decorator at a theater, and write novels. I try to combine painting and writing in my works. I have a few ideas that I am currently working on, but it takes time. I often struggle with art blocks, but it's more because of my way of making art. I prefer to create the concept fully in my imagination, and only when I am sure of what I want to do, I start drawing and painting. I use all kinds of mediums, oil colors, tempera, charcoal, graphite, pastel colors. Ink has a special place in my heart. During these 4 years since I finished the art academy, I've created a lot of things ( art, and not only) but I feel that I need more free time to paint for myself, which is quite a problem.
