About The Artwork
Obviously, this is an homage to Joseph Beuys, the father of Conceptual Art. Besides being a funny one liner, I like to think that it goes deeper than that. Fellow artist Joshua Warren and I made T-Shirts out of this for an exhibition at the SFMOMA titled Shadowshop. The exhibition was a pop-up store by Stephanie Syjuco back in 2010. They sold out. The piece is 36"x36"x3.5", laser cut 5mm black felt glued onto grey felt, stretched over a wooden frame. This is #12 in a set of 100 multiples. Each piece is signed and numbered by the artist on the back.
