The Irish Eyebright flower is a rare and declining species of flora, with the UK majority found in Northern Ireland. Rarity and isolation of a small population is always a threat in itself to long-term survival of a species. This forms the inspiration behind this piece of work for which preparatory sketches were made on location and the original painting worked on back in my London studio. It is soft to look at, yet on closer inspection you can see a multitude of mark making and happy accidents which I work to emphasise, until the painting 'emerges' from itself. The printed open edition version captures all of the details of the original, and the original painting was carefully colour matched to the digital files to ensure the very best quality of print.

London Evening Standard Top Ten : "Best Affordable Art Prints Nature Inspired Art". "The act of painting is a form of introspective spadework, where I am constantly 'digging deep'. I call this my daily meditation and, when fully in the flow, it often feels like a spiritual rite of passage." TOAF exhibitor London 2021 edition. Grounded by the spiritual anchors of land, sea and sky, Emma Tweedie's highly emotive landscapes explore a narrative based around the power of nature and its effects on human consciousness. Her paintings set out to unlock ancient wisdoms, the legacy of places and the unique energies that often resides in landscape, as well as metaphysical concepts including memory and spirituality. Emma works with responsibly sourced materials where possible, and is passionate about sustainability. By donating a percentage from every painting sold to a number of hand-selected environmental and social causes, Emma uses her creativity to make a positive planetary impact. An established artist, Emma works between her native homeland of Northern Ireland and her London studio. Coast Magazine : 'Catch of The Day' - "Emma works with gouache, watercolour, acrylics and pastels to create vivid and otherworldly works of art". #landscape #irishart #abstract #impressionist #sustainableart #nature #sky #sea #coastal #metaphysical
