About The Artwork

"La Confusion des genres" belongs to a series dedicated to transhumanism, which is a project aimed at increasing the human being and making it a kind of ultra-sophisticated machine that can be improved and transformed to infinity. The human figure disappears behind the technology, each organ, each part of the body becomes like a puzzle piece that can be recombined at will. Here, the painting evokes a corollary of the transhumanist vision, namely transsexualism, which postulates that each individual is free and master to decide their sex and gender, independently of any biological assignment at birth. A man can become a woman and vice versa. This painting is a unique piece made in mixed technique on canvas. He combines photography, digital composition and acrylic painting (glaze and numerous squares in relief). It is framed in black wood (total dimensions: approximately 61 x 86 x 3.5 cm)

« In the age of digital technologies, I couldn't just be a painter or a photographer. My 'paintographies' bring down borders between techniques and offer a resolutely contemporary hybrid art. » I was born in 1975 in a small town in the French countryside and arrived in Paris in 1992 for my studies (History, English and literature). I have been a professional artist since 2007, with over 60 exhibitions across France and Europe. My artistic approach is both simple and complex. Although my work portrays a figurative aesthetic that favors clarity, it does so through a complex blending of photography, digital art, and acrylic painting. The result is a mixed technique I call ‘paintography’. My compositions highlight the fragility of the human body. I transform my model into virtual sculptures by replacing their skin with mineral materials to represent the passage of time.
