About The Artwork

Figurative drawing was compulsory during Artistic studies. Luckily I really enjoyed the challenge of capturing the model in a pose, while under time pressure & the lecturers scrutinising gaze... I have many favourite artist but one of my most favoured artist is Gustav Klimt...

Born in Sydney Australia Cherie spent some of her earlier, formative years residing in New Zealand, located at the base of snowy Mt Taranaki (Mt Egmont). Winning her NZ Primary School Art award at age 6. Although now considers herself a local having called Townsville home for the past twenty five years, the largest urban centre of Far North Queensland, Australia. Cherie"s favourite creative mediums are drawing & oil painting. With recent explorations into creative recyling - repurposing landfill tyres, into bespoke Wabi Sabi coffee table designs, with a boho vibe. The theme nderpinning her artwork is a mixture of inspiration drawn from Northern Queensland nature, with an interest in spirituality & emotionally associated imagery underpinned by lived experience, from grief & loss of family ties. Cherie is drawn to the use of curvaceous & circular shapes in her conceptual design process, as feels this captures a feminine quality within her style. In addition she feels drawn to incorporating the spiral motif as a reflection of her childhood memories from New Zealand combined with her love of nature.
