This is one of the few remaining beaches in the Hawaiian Islands that haven't become overpopulated by tourists. Molokai is one of the eight main Hawaiian Islands, and is nicknamed "the friendly isle" due to its famous small-town hospitality. Molokai is considered to be a snapshot of "old Hawaii," since it has so far largely escaped the transformation of tourism that most of the other Hawaiian Islands have experienced. Locals on Molokai take seriously their kuleana (responsibility) to malama aina (care for the land). In order to help protect it from becoming commercialized, the name and location of this beach remains a secret. Rob Kajiwara is a native Ryukyu / Hawaiian. In his Hawaiiana paintings, he signs with his Hawaiian name, Lopaka.
