ABOUT THE ARTWORK
The photo that served as the basis for this artwork was taken by me in the Moroccan desert in 2013. Her hair wild, her eyes questioning and sad, I was taken by her rugged look, with the innocence of a child beneath. I have now transferred this photo to a wooden board that I had painted black with acrylic paint. Then I worked on details in the hair and face with pastel crayons. I moved the image into Photoshop and worked on it there with different techniques that I have developed over the years. In the final artwork she looks as if on fire and she gazes directly into your soul with her sad eyes.
