Icons are images that have the power to represent with a few simple traits, an entire chain of data that our brain processes and elaborates when it sees the corresponding icon represented. Icon of the orisha goddess Yemayá. Orishas are deities of the Yoruba religion who are believed to have acted as intermediaries between the gods and men. The Yoruba religion has its origins in West Africa. Much of their believers were used as slaves in the Americas, and were forbidden to have a belief of their own, for this reason Africans disguised their gods as saints of the Christian religion. But when freedom came, these ancient forces that had never died, flourished vigorously, not only in communities of African origin, but everywhere in the world. Its name is (yeyé-mother, omo-son, eyá-fish) which literally means "Mother of fish", so we are all "children of her", by remaining "swimming" in our mother's placenta. Yemayá is the owner of the waters, she is the mother of all the children of the earth, represents the womb, fertility and universal motherhood, her power is so immense that she represents the whole sea with her waves. Yemayá's relationship with men, in the oldest legends, is physical distance. She is always fed up with husbands, always running away from them or, at the very least, they are absent. There are no ancestral accounts of sensual love withe her men and her companions appear only as the material parents of her children. Yemayá doesn't have a bad relationship with man, she just doesn't need them. She is the eternal mother and her position toward men can be expressed with this sentence: I do not need you, but if you need me, I am here. Why buying Yemayá ? To activate in your psyche, through a psychomagic process, the power of unconditional love and mercy. Eternal presence and constant help. Calling yemayá to us means calling the strength of the wisdom of the waters below (the sea) and the waters above (the universe). Both deep, black, unsinkable, cold places where the sense of direction is lost. But we all come from the water and we're all going to "the sky." And so we've all been and will be under Yemayá's protection.
