About The Artwork

Somehow It Seems So Still is part of a series of urban abstracts which explore texture and lines in acrylic, ink and conte crayon. While previous paintings in this series were more monochromatic, this was also an opportunity to play with colors and contrast. When it was was done, there was a stillness in all the movement, and a nostalgic reminder of the introductory scene of the old Muppet Show when all the puppets are in their windows, singing. This was the inspiration for the augmented reality experience which begins with an original audio composition written and recorded by Josh Preston. The bouncy music and choral oohs make the rising 3D bubbles and dancing singing animated heads seem contagiously silly. Viewing the augmented reality is as simple as downloading the Artivive app, a free camera app and viewing the artwork through the app. Currently on exhibit at the Geodis Stadium in Nashville, TN for the 2023 season. Will be available for sale after exhibit.

Lisa Reed Preston is a self-taught artist who embraces the beauty of abstraction and interprets it through her fine art paintings, augmented reality paintings, and virtual reality art experiences. Growing up a military child and oldest of 4, Lisa spent much of her youth moving and adapting to new environments. At the age of 11, she won her first art contest. For years, Lisa lost focus on her childhood passion as the challenges and practicality of life replaced youthful whimsy. Upon moving to the Nashville area, she rediscovered her passion for creativity and became part of the Plowhaus Artist Co-Op. Most recently, Lisa participated in Nashville Arts and Business Council’s Periscope 2022 class, showed her augmented reality fine art paintings at Artclectic! Nashville, TN, and was featured on the popular Nashville billboard as the Artist of the Week. Lisa’s varied life experiences continued as an audio engineer, graphic designer, STEM and robotics teacher, and data analyst provide her with an enthusiasm for problem solving and experimentation. For the last 18 years, Lisa has resided with her husband in Bellevue, TN.
