ABOUT THE ARTWORK

You've become lost in a deep, dark forest.  Desperately searching for a way out of the woods, you come to a spot where the sun breaks through the canopy and cuts into the darkness.  Yet in that clearing stands an unusual sight.  A woman is there looking at you.  She carries a staff and wears a headdress of deer antlers...but wait… is that a headdress, or does she actually have antlers? The Deer Woman is a Native American legend common to many tribes.  She is a spirit associated with love and fertility, but she also has a dark side and is known to bring death to promiscuous men and to cause other men to waste away longing for her.  She can appear as a deer or as a human but can be identified by the hoofs on her feet (which I hid in this scene behind some ferns). Thanks for looking! Daniel Eskridge P.S. Follow me on Facebook:

I want my art to be the doorway to ones imagination, a spark that leads to daydreams of journeys into history, fantasy worlds, and even the occassional dark lands of horror. Hence, I refer to my art as work as "Adventurous Art". Growing up in the foothills of the Appalachians, I've spent a great deal of time outdoors hiking, fishing and camping in the forests of north Georgia. Consequently, nature and organic forms play a big role in my images. I like to portray animals and creatures, but I’ll depict the occasional person as well; and almost always set in a natural environment. My art has been featured in the pages of Wild West, natural history, and horror magazines. I've had illustrations appear on everything from the covers of fantasy novels to the science sections of newspapers. A few of my works have even found their way into museums of science and history. So, welcome...and sit back and enjoy the adventure.
