«THEORY OF THE UNIVERSE» Astian Rey 2022 School board, wood. 100х100х5сm (20 kg) The school board symbolizes the beginning of a person's acquisition of knowledge about the surrounding world. But as the centuries-old history of mankind shows, science tends to change its canons and fundamental knowledge about the universe. Unfortunately, such changes sometimes cost the lives of pioneers. After all, entrenched thinking is often unable to admit something new, because this new thing can turn the world upside down. And can we be sure that modern knowledge fully reflects the truth? The work is made from a found school board. The wheels inside are made of chipboard and recessed inside. The board is covered with varnish, and the circles are painted with gold enamel.

ASTIAN REY Born in 1987 in Kiev, Ukraine. Astian Rey is the founder of his own direction of art - “Sacred Brutalism”. In his work he explores themes of religion, mysticism and the occult, as well as their role in the development of humanity. Astian is known for his interdisciplinary approach to art, including sculpture, installation, literature and musical-performative experiments. He is the author of the Codex Reptilius project, which is an artificially created mystical cult with its own book, sacred objects and music album. The works are in private and public collections in Ukraine, the USA and Europe.
